A digital network server is a specialized computer that has a role of coordinator and organizer of its work. It will become an indispensable assistant to a company or enterprise, make the work of IT specialists easier.

Acquiring such a device is a very challenging task as many actual and potential characteristics of enterprise computer network need to be taken into account. Nor should you overpay for functionality which will not manifest itself within existing network infrastructure.

How to choose a server?

Among many factors to consider when choosing a server, the following should be noted first. First of all, it is necessary to evaluate the efficiency of specialized equipment. If a personal computer is sufficient, there is no need to buy a server. 

Otherwise, you can spend a lot of money on completely unclaimed functionality. Before purchasing a server, you need to make a balanced assessment of future IT infrastructure. This means that you have to make a decision on how much hardware will be needed, how the workflow will be implemented. 

There are several answers to the last question. Several regular PCs can be used in operation, or you may opt for using cloud solutions or virtualization. Another important preliminary question is: what software will be used? The requirements for different software packages differ. 

If there is, for example, file storage, this packages will be completely different than for any ERP. This will also affect the choice of server. It will be important to pay attention to how future server complies with specialization, profile of enterprise or company. 

Versatile equipment is not always the best solution. Therefore, it is better to consult experts about server applications and configurations. Other factors of influence include availability of built-in diagnostic functions, flexibility to adapt to applications, hardware susceptibility to cyber attacks, viruses and many others.
